Foundation — Season 1Foundation's big-budget production and impressive performances are a sight to behold, but it struggles to wrangle the behemoth that is its source material into a fully satisfying series.
Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald As with all good sci-fi, Foundation gives you plenty to chew on -- and the chewing has only just begun. Rated: 4/5 Oct 7, 2021 Full Review Scott Bryan BBC.com It would be enjoyable if they had a bit more fun with it, but watching it felt like I was in a meeting. Oct 6, 2021 Full Review Chancellor Agard Entertainment Weekly By keeping the audience at arm's length, Foundation also makes it that much harder to connect with any of the characters, despite some solid performances from the entire cast. Rated: C+ Oct 4, 2021 Full Review Alachia Queen Alachia Queen This series is what all science fiction shows should use as their standard. The scope of the story telling, the production value, and character performances are all outstanding. Rated: A Aug 6, 2023 Full Review Aaron Phillips But Why Tho? A Geek Community Foundation season 1 is a highly compelling piece of sci-fi that has some magnificent visual effects. Lee Pace, and Jared Harris light up the show with their commanding character portrayals. Rated: 8/10 Jan 23, 2023 Full Review Cris Kennedy The Canberra Times (Australia) Some of the worlds we visit are pulled right from the pages of Tekhnika Molodezhi. But this world building does produce long ponderous scenes, and pace can be an issue at times in the screenplay from show runners David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman. Lee H With the exception of the planetary names, Hari Seldon, and a vague concept of the Empire and Foundation, so far this show has nothing whatsoever to do with the books. I think they would have been better served by just making up a new set of names. It would be less distracting, since one would not continually be trying to shoehorn the show mentally into the books. That being said, the production is beautiful, and the storyline is pretty good. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/07/24 Full Review M C I'm only on episode 1, but I'm absolutely blown away. The story is riveting, the scenery is visually stunning, the in-universe technology imaginative, the pacing is excellent, and so is the acting. I loved every aspect of this. This show should not be binged, it should be savored. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/14/24 Full Review Audience Member The audience rating is about right. This ambitious sci-fi show started out gang busters and the VFX and CGI is amazing. They literally created new worlds and cities however the 2nd half of the season flattened out. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/23/24 Full Review Noneya B Interesting at times, but suffers a bit from obvious tropes and character changes from books and who is/it's good or evil and strong or weak that plagues modern media. I think I'd be more interested in the books than this problematic show. Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/18/24 Full Review Joseph B Amazing rendition of a sci fi world Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/15/24 Full Review A S Enjoyable watch, even if it doesn't seem to capture the feel of the feel of Asimov's Foundation series. Characters are generally compelling, even if a few seem overly contrived for plot points. I'd call it a decent bit of Sci-Fi.
